Falcon Lake is a mainstream reservoir on the Rio Grande River. It is located 40 miles east of Laredo, Texas on Highway 83 and lies in Star and Zapata Counties. The surface area is 83,654 acres and there is a maximum depth of 110 feet at the dam.

​The current rod and reel records for Falcon Largemouth Bass is 15.63 pounds with a length of 28 inches., Blue Catfish 60 pounds length 44 inches, Flathead Catfish 29.90 pounds length 37 inches! The record for an Alligator Gar Bow Fishing is 249 pounds length 94 inches.


Fishing Regulations

On the Texas side of the lake, all species are managed under current Texas statewide regulations. For recreational anglers fishing Mexican waters, a Mexico fishing license is required for everyone in the boat.
